Martina Franca, Puglia, Italy
2022 – 2026
Located in the historic centre of Martina Franca, Casa Mazzini is the restoration of a traditional Apulian townhouse that transformed a neglected historic property into a contemporary home while fully respecting the architectural identity of one of Puglia’s most remarkable Baroque towns.
Rather than imposing a new architectural language, the project was guided by a simple principle: reveal the original character of the building and allow its history to remain visible. Every intervention was designed to preserve authenticity while discreetly introducing contemporary comfort.
A Restoration Without Compromise
Casa Mazzini was never intended to be a fast renovation.
The project evolved over four years, accompanying the closing chapter of our professional work in Istria and Dalmatia while simultaneously marking the beginning of a new architectural journey in Puglia. Every phase was carried out alongside ongoing projects, allowing each decision to mature naturally instead of being dictated by construction deadlines.
Completed in 2026, Casa Mazzini became much more than a finished restoration it became the first project of our permanent architectural presence in Puglia and the foundation of a new chapter entirely dedicated to the region’s historic architecture.

Rediscovering the Original Architecture
During reconstruction, later additions were carefully removed to reveal the building’s authentic structure.
Historic star vaults, traditional stone masonry and the original proportions of the spaces once again became the defining architectural elements. Contemporary interventions were intentionally restrained, creating a quiet dialogue between heritage and modern living.
Here, the architecture itself became the interior.
Designed Around Light, Space and Material
The interiors embrace simplicity and permanence.
Natural lime finishes, handcrafted wood, local stone and carefully selected furnishings create spaces that feel timeless rather than fashionable. Every material was chosen for its honesty, texture and ability to age beautifully.
Instead of decoration, the project relies on proportion, craftsmanship and natural light to create atmosphere.

Living Within History
Although deeply rooted in history, Casa Mazzini was designed for modern life.
Contemporary technologies, efficient layouts and discreetly integrated services provide today’s level of comfort without disturbing the historic character of the building.
The result is a home that feels centuries old while functioning effortlessly in the present.
A Rooftop Above Martina Franca
At the highest level, the house opens onto a private rooftop terrace overlooking the white skyline of Martina Franca.
The spa pool, Mediterranean planting and intimate outdoor living spaces create a peaceful retreat above the historic streets, offering panoramic views across rooftops, church bell towers and the landscape of the Itria Valley.
It is a place where architecture, light and silence define everyday life.
The Beginning of a New Chapter
Casa Mazzini represents far more than the completion of a single restoration.
It defines the philosophy that now guides every project undertaken by VMP Progetti in Puglia an approach based on respect for historic architecture, careful craftsmanship and the belief that contemporary interventions should enhance, never dominate, the buildings they inhabit.
This project marks the beginning of our permanent commitment to Puglia and embodies our philosophy of Intelligent Reconstruction: creating timeless homes by preserving the essence of the past while designing for the future.
